Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide. The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event, with the goal of Movember being to “change the face of men’s health.”
At GMIT Students’ Union, we’re doing our best to use our own influence to get involved with Charity events during the year despite the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic meaning the majority of our students are studying from home. Unlike other events, people can take part in Movember from just about anywhere in the world – even if you cannot grow a Mo!
We’ve set up our own team so we can make a group effort to raise as much money as possible whilst sporting some fabulous 1970’s favourites. Simply sign up at Movember, search ‘GMIT Staff and Students’ and then start your fundraising! If you have ANY questions at all, you can get in touch by emailing suwelfare@gmit.ie. Of course, Movember is much more than just growing a Moustache, you can get involved in so many other ways; by supporting someone else who is growing a Mo, holding a charity quiz, partaking in a charity walk and so much more!
